Students in Ghent measure air quality

In the City of Ghent, 5th grade students from the De Krekel school are learning hands-on what it's like to be a citizen scientist. 👩‍🔬 The school is participating in a pilot project in which students measure the amount of fine dust on their journey to and from school, with a PM sensor attached to their backpack or bicycle. The results are displayed in an interactive dashboard, which is part of a lesson package on air quality monitoring. 🌫️☁️ Christophe Stroobants from the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM) explained how to make and understand measurements ,and how to use the dashboard. The young citizen scientists feel really enthusiastic and are eager to continue measuring dynamic exposure to air pollution.
